This session will be a view from Mama Kat’s many years of experience on the ground in Cuba as a US citizen working closely with ELAM -Latin American Medical School and as a co-educator Cuba’s National School of Public Health. She also works closely with the pilot pad project (aka *Period Project) in Havana which Cubamistad introduced to the FMC ( Federation of Cuban Women) in Santa Clara just last year. She encourages an interactive discussion.
11:45 Cheryl Labash. Current co-chair of the National Network on Cuba, Veteran Venceremos brigadista, IFCO Pastors for Peace delegate and spokesperson.
Cheryl will share her experience from numerous years of Cuba Solidarity work, both to Free the Cuban Five Cuba and return Elian to his father. She will give an overview of multiple efforts to seek an end to the blockade (embargo), the increase in Cuban’s migration and the root causes, as well as options for travel to Cuba. She will highlight the need for advocacy which is critical in this moment as Cuba recovers from the devastating impact of hurricane Oscar coupled with the massive electrical grid failure.

She is an experienced trainer and coach in international and community development.

Ann will speak of her inclusive approach to working with women, boys & girls to develop positive relationships and mutual respect regardless of age or gender. She will inform us on the Period Project and the next steps necessary for nurturing it’s implementation in Santa Clara.
